When in Baguio: Arca's Yard

One Sunday afternoon when all I wanted to do was catch up on sleep, my hubbie kept on asking me to go out for dinner. Feeling resigned, I got up and took a shower. I'm glad I did because we ended up having a nice family dinner at Arca's Yard.

What the hell is Arca's Yard, you might ask? Well, Arca's Yard is a café museum and mini library located at Tiptop, Ambuklao Road in Baguio City. It has a collection of books, photographs, paintings, artifacts like wooden spoons and spears, and wood bust carvings among others. The café is located in a very high place, meaning the view in their terraces are to die for.

Going there is very easy, if you don't mind the somewhat narrow road (in my mind, at least) and the many road constructions that goes there for the time being. The directions can easily be found in your phone's Maps if you have it in your phone. But otherwise, you can find it here.
Upon arriving, we were greeted by a very likable waiter and shown to the available seats at the back. The place was full of diners in front. I like our seating area, though, as it was in the terrace area with a view of the mountains and the sky.

Our foods when it arrived looked very delicious. My daughter who is a very picky eater and who is always full after a few bites, ate most of her french toast and drank her whole glass of mango smoothie.

Here's my daughter all smiles when her favorite food arrived together with her mango smoothie.

And here she is seriously attacking her plate and even frowning when her dad took a small piece to taste her food.

Our food wasn't shabby either when it arrived. For my hubbie and I, we ordered a plate of their french fries, the pork steak and avocado smoothie, Hungarian sausage with homemade bacon and egg.

Their french fries were crispy on the outside but soft in the inside served with cheese dip. The avocado smoothie was good although it was a little bit runny (like they used too much water or something) but still quite okay. My pork steak was great, I liked the taste but not the gravy. It was quite big and thick, too so that was great. My hubbie's Hungarian sausage with homemade bacon and egg is exactly what you'd expect for a breakfast type of meal. He's got some comments though with the sausage, saying it wasn't fully cooked. And this is a guy who seriously likes his sausages. The foods were of medium to big proportions (depending on the one who's eating) that I felt full before I even got through half of my meal. And also because I already a lot of the fries.

There were a lot of interesting things to note and take a picture of hanging on the walls. I took pictures of some of the paintings, wood carvings, and the dining area. Here are some of them:

A wood carving (I thing it might be Jesus Christ)

A wall with wooden spears and maybe gongs?

I think this one must be textile of some sort

These are artifact of wooden spoons and kitchen utensils

A painting of women (most of their paintings in the similar fashion)

The sofa from the balcony where we had our seats

The central dining area

The low dining table with cushions just before the side balcony door

A collection lovers' padlocks by the front door

It was a great spontaneous family dinner at a restaurant for us. My daughter had fun playing mobile games with her dad while we were waiting for our food. The weather remained cool but not too cold to be outside in the balcony and for once it didn't rained at all.

If you're ever in Baguio, I wholeheartedly recommend a visit to Arca's Yard for a little bit (or a lot) of meal with culture thrown in. To visit, their operating hours is from Monday to Sunday and open from 9 am to 8 pm. A word of advice, though, be there before 6:30 pm as that is their last kitchen call time. Kiss Mud Foam and Snail White Cream Review

Kiss Mud Foam and Snail White Cream from Shadz Online Shop I was not into foreign products unknown to me. I mostly used the more popular brands that we do have on our supermarkets and beauty shops here in the country with international brand names like Olay and Dove.  A friend of mine recommended Shadz Online Shop to me a few years back. I quickly checked their products and prices noticing as I did so that they are quite expensive. But still, I was interested since they are Japanese products and was described as very mild. I have fairly sensitive skin so I mostly used mild products like Olay, Dove and others.

Microtel Baguio - Hotel Review

Way back in September 2014, me with my husband and our daughter decided to go Baguio. Nothing spectacular, just wanting to get out our house for awhile and see some different sights. Having arrived early in the evening and no idea about accommodations whatsoever, we decided to check out this hotel located conveniently very close to the bus terminal. Microtel is just a short walk from the bus terminal. It was a very nice hotel with such nice rooms as seen below.
